Arsenal v WBA
The first game of the league of the season pits Arsenal young guns against premiership new boys, West Bromwich Albion. Arsenal have strenghten their squad with the arrivals of Samir Nasri and Aaron Ramsey. However, Nasri shall sit out this game through injury while Wenger may be forced to give Ramsey his Emirates debut due to injuries to Fabregas and Rosicky. Meanwhile, Justin Hoyte is eyeing a last minute move to Boro. West Brom manager Tony Mowbray believes anyone writing off Albion’s chances of Premier League survival next season are in for a shock. They signed Bolton’s Abdoulaye Meite to add some steel into the squad. Mourinho has written off Arsenal chances even before the start of the season, however expect Arsenal to come out good this time. Repentant Adebayor to teach West Brom a lesson.

Bolton vs Stoke
Bolton has lost the likes of Meite and Diouf but they have already strengthen significantly with the signings of Swedish striker Johan Elmander and Watford’s defender Danny Shittu. Captain Kevin Nolan has since said he is feeling ‘very very good’ for his team’s prospect this season and he also believes a win in this game will do their season a world of good. Stoke do have some impressive strikers in Dave Kitson and Ricardo Fuller but they wont be the last to admit they lack flair in their team. Meanwhile Nicola Zigic of Valencia has since snubbed a move to the Brittania Stadium. We expect Stoke survival to go up in smoke at the end of the season, but they will prove a handful for Bolton in this game to snatch a point.

Everton v Blackburn
Everton have been not so active in the transfer market in the summer and the injury to Steven Pienaar may taint their hopes for top four spots. Their ever pursuit of Joao Moutinho and Vagner Love have proved fruitless so far. At the opposite bench sit the first black manager in EPL, Mr Paul Ince. Paul has settled well but started this campaign rejecting offers for his star players like Roque Santa Cruz and Stephan Warnock. With no massive signings this summer, Paul should be targeting a middle league position as his first term goal. Everton , as usual will be banking on home comfort but managers’ debut game rarely end up in defeat. A point away for Paul ‘Guvnor’ Ince.

Hull v Fulham
Hull City have confirmed the signing of striker Marlon King on a season-long loan from Premier League rivals Wigan Athletic. However, it is Dean Windass who is in everyone’s lips to be the unlikely hero to save their season. Remember him? Yes,and he is 39 years old now! Fulham performed miracle in staying up last season. Roy Hodgson acted swiftly to sign proven striker Andy Johnson from Everton as a move to avoid relegation scrap this season. Hull will certainly relishing their first ever premiership appearance and dont bet against ever-green Windass to score for a shocking win.

Middlesborough vs Tottenham
Boro fans will be looking to Alfonso Alves to finally justify this huge price tag this season . Alves scored twice as Boro hammered Sparta Rotterdam in a pre-season friendly. Meanwhile, the loss of Luke Young will be soften by the imminent arrival of Justin Hoyte from Arsenal. Tottenham, on the other hand are arguably the busiest team in the transfer market over the summer. In came the likes of Luca Modric, Giovanni Dos Santos and David Bentley , and off goes the likes of Robbie Keane and Younes Kaboul . Many have anticipated Spurs to gun down a top four spot. We reckon the pressure may be too much for the inexperience team as Boro hold on for a draw in this game.

West Ham vs Wigan
Alan Curbishley has been touted to be the first managerial casualty this season, he is not so concerned with it. While Bellamy is out for a few months, Valon Behrami is counted on as West Ham’s key player due to his versality. Wigan assistant Eric Black has revealed Paul Scharner is a major doubt for the club’s first game of the season against West Ham on Saturday. Meanwhile, Wigan manager Steve Bruce believes Honduras international Maynor Figueroa can make an impact in the Premier League this season. Still remember Kieron Dyer ? Well, he is back and maybe he more likely to save Curbishley season and give them a win here rather than Behrami.

Putting on His Scoring Boots

Sunderland v Liverpool
Roy Keane is hoping Sunderland can catch Liverpool cold when they meet in Saturday’s Premier League opener at the Stadium of Light. He is so hopeful due to Liverpool’s dismal CL qualifier performance in midweek. Keane will be counting on new boys like El hadji Diouf , Teemu Tainio and Pascal Chimbonda to cause Liverpool trouble . Robbie Keane and Fernando Torres are still finding their click and fans all round the world will be licking their lips should they found it in this match. Meanwhile, Italian Dossena should be given a league debut in this game. With Torres and Keane still learning each other’s (body) language, Sunderland are strong bets to avoid a loss.

Chelsea v Portsmouth
They mean business, they certainly do as Roman Abramovich open his chequebook again to sign Scolari , Deco and Jose Bosingwa. Meanwhile, Frank Lampard also signed a new contract which makes him the highest paid player in the league. They are still in pursuit of Robinho. In their own rights, Pompey have signed Younes Kaboul and Peter Crouch to stake their claims to improve on their already impressive last season. With Chelsea hungrier than ever, Pompey could be in for a hard time. An easy win for Chelsea.

Aston Villa v Manchester City
Carlos Cuellar has completed his £7.8million move to Aston Villa from Rangers, signing a four-year deal to keep him with the Villans until 2012 . With Barry most probably staying , the signing of Steve Sidwell gave them a tough armor this season. Manchester City’s boss Thaksin has been stealing the limelight from his team for his problems with the Thai goverment over the weeks. The arrival of Jo and Tal Ben Haim at least gave his fans something to cheer about. Villa looked solid this season , expect them to prevail at home.

Manchester United v Newcastle United
Now that Christiano Ronaldo saga is over, the Red Devils can focus to defend their title. However , they might have to do without Ronaldo and Rooney for this game. Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar will decide in December if he wants to continue playing for another season. Newcastle meanwhile are trying hard to tie the deals for Tiago and Fabricio Coloccini before the match. Michael Owen should be fit for this game. There is no better time to play the champions , thus fingers crossed ; this might be the best game of the season . A thrilling scoring draw.
